2018 GIS in Education Award Recipient – Anne Deinert

Anne Deinert retired in June 2012 after a 33-year career as an elementary special-education teacher in the Christina School District. She was trained as a Teacher Consultant for the Alliance in 1999. She served for more than ten years on the Social Studies Committee in Christina as a lead teacher for her building. She has written curriculum and test items for the district as well as for the Department of Education and the Social Studies Coalition of Delaware. She has presented professional development to teachers across the state and served as an adjunct at Wilmington University, teaching Integrated Methods for Teaching Social Studies. Most recently, Anne helped to revise curriculum, make presentations, and guide field trips at Trap Pond State Park as part of the new Watersheds Grant developed by the Alliance. She serves the Alliance as Program Director, providing support for the programs and members of the Alliance.
