Maggie is the Delaware Geographic Alliance Coordinator and has worked tirelessly in promoting Geographic Literacy in Delaware and the benefits of using GIS to do just that. Through her summer workshops, her participation in the annual GIS Day event, and her partnerships with Delaware curriculum writers she has not only strengthened Geographic Literacy, but has been instrumental in advancing the way in which Delaware children learn geography. Maggie’s passion for preparing Delaware students in a global society and using GIS to strengthen their understanding of the world makes her a deserving candidate for this prestigious award.
“The DGA believes that geography education is critical to the development of students’ critical thinking skills, as well as deepening their understanding of the world. As globalization continues to drive economics, politics, and pop culture, it is critical for every American student to understand the many different cultures of the world.”
